Add realistic atmospheric effects with 3D depth - fog, mist, haze, steam, drizzle - with Atmosphere AI. With Luminar AI, creating striking photos is fun and surprisingly easy. The first image editor fully powered by artificial intelligence. Im no Nostradamus but we may see a 2022 release with some missing L4 features added back. No complaints here as I'm not so sure we have seen the last of the DAM features from them. After all they spent an equal amount of effort convincing us that was their north star. I do however have sympathy for those that disagree with Skylum's sudden left turn away from the "lightroom alternative" that L4 was. If a good and creative tool that isn't Adobe is what you want, give it a try and ignore the unhinged haters.Īgreed! Im happy using Capture one for my main DAM and Luminar ai is a great alternative editor. Indeed, if a DAM is your grail, then look elsewhere and quit beeching about anything that isn't even intended to be. AI and 4 both run well on my Windows laptop.AI is faster though. % years ago I would have been on the negative side of this debate saying "ai is for the weak" but not today I appreciate the leg up.įor some you may prefer to save your pennies but for me it a pittance in the grand scheme of spending my time, Life is to short indeed! Does it replace us? not at all! Does it make editing easier and more fun I think so yes!Įveryone has a different process. Im spending more time choosing a mood or look or style than trying to figure out what parameters to tweak in order to arrive at the same place. However If Im wanting to just get inspired to be more creative with my images the ai actually does get the software out of my way. If I want the best conversion and DAM I have Capture One. Sometimes the ai fault to recognize a sky in certain images or photos and there is no way to force it to recognize it.įor me Luminar ai is less of a total DAM system and more of a creative tool. Performance is improved but not as much as Capture one or Apple photos. So in this situation I use Capture one to output a TIFF or Iridient X Transformer which is amazing! Skylum claim improving this is on the roadmap but some older file types such as my Pentax K-10D have CA and fringing issues not to mention no diffraction correction. Raw Conversion (CA/lens/diffraction correction) can be poor with certain files. But new approach = new eyes on the images. As I share a library with Capture One it remains my main Catalog app. I get it the code base is new, (I somehow recall them saying this from Luminar 2018 to Luminar 3) but this has caused me more work. I had to start from scratch with my catalog.Once I choose one from there I can then edit just like in Luminar 4 While I love editing Templates with the way they work have more appropriately allowed me to try out different looks to a given photo.Looks would often look weird (to dark too heavy handed) on images with varying content or luminance etc Templates, unlike looks, use the ai engine to evaluate the base image in real time so the result will vary based on the image content used.Performance improvements also mean local edits and masking work is faster and no longer cause the software to choke. Its noticeably faster and more responsive than Luminar 4 which on my mac is painfully slow.Well for me after I got my gripes out and grew more comfortable with Luminar ai My opinion of it has largely changes and some stayed the same.

No none wants to pay twice for the same thing right?

I felt a bit burned from an upgrade fee that seemed to take away features or re-package them. Same goes for paying for an upgrade than in many ways "appears" like a side grade or depending on your perspective a "downgrade".Īt the announcement and first launch I was like this. Some don't want any ai doing what they like doing manually others don't. Like many here and forms everywhere division is high.
